People,

Today is a very special day. This morning I awoke and felt something
stirring underneath the surface of my conciousness. A warm welcome to that.
It says: " Have a close look at what we have got. Do not deal with the
'maybe's'."

? Can we deal with the evolving antagonism of

1. The very slow reading part of the group. Reading the book word by word.
Discussing sentence by sentence. Sticking to the written word. Avoiding pet
theories and everything which might distract.

2. The other group going much faster, managing a greater distance in a
shorter amount of time. Looking behind the surface, applying all kinds of
theories.

I would agree going parallel on two rails.

I like this process of working out the slow-reading method as we work with
the actual text. I guess its the only way to do it right. If we limit our
discussion to the first six pages of chapter one (Or thereabouts - you'll
see the shift in direction no matter what page your copy has it on.) we can
still continue all the current threads. Maybe we should linger a little
longer as this method unfolds?

I think that we should not move on until people stop posting relevant
stuff. The irrelevant stuff is stopped by Keith anyway (right Keith?).

So instead of voting to move on, let's "vote" by not posting. Let's say
that we give each Chapter a minimum of 2 weeks and then extend it until
the posts dry up e.g. for 3 days.

I trust the slow reading group will give us an oppertunity to be both
knights and children...

Another idea: 'Let us see what will happen and if anybody feels annoyed or
dazed or confused one or the other group could switch to the MD forum.'

' Lila ' chapter one, second paragraph, first sentence :

" The light from the open hatch above was so dim it concealed whatever
lines of cosmetics and age were there and now she looked softly cherubic,
like a small girl with blond hair, wide cheekbones, a small turned up nose,
and a common child's face that seemed so familiar it attracted a certain
natural affection. He got the feeling that when morning came she should pop
open her sky-blue eyes and they should sparkle with excitement at the
prospect of a new day of sunlight and parents smiling and maybe bacon
cooking on the stove and happiness everywhere."

This is me printing this sentence in big block letters on a beautiful clean
white sheet of paper and taking if for a companion for one day -).

Thank You and take Good care, Andreas
