Oops,
Matt had said:
To supplement this story, I should provide a history of how metaphysics and
epistemology spawned modern SOM. I clearly don’t have enough room here. I
will suggest this, though: the mind/matter problem didn’t become a problem
until Descartes. The subject-object idiom didn’t become solidified until
Kant. If you want a little more meat to these suggestions, I can direct you
to the narrative I tell in January, 2005 in the MF (look that up).
Matt:
Oops, that wasn't supposed to be a directive to everyone else. I don't have
internet at home, so it was supposed to be a directive _to me_ to look up
what I was referencing. If anyone did try following that lead, you'll know
I have a bad memory and why I told myself to look it up.
The narrative (principally in the posts "Introductory Remarks," "Towards a
Narrative of SOM," and "Concluding Remarks") is in the MF Archives from
October of 2004. Not Jan, '05.
Sorry about that,
Matt
