Thanks for the feedback Rick, creating them was certainly a chore, and their
value is as a framework from which to hang and link thoughts about the
    subject.

(For example, if I hadn't done this I would not have spotted Richard Rorty's
earlier encounter with the Hutchins Mob in Chicago, whose chairman so
incensed Phaedrus. No doubt this is common knowledge amongst the
    officionados.)

Anyway, in this form it is much easier than my earlier attempt to edit / add
/ correct if anyone discovers errors. (I still have nagging doubts for
example about whether the bulk of what I have down as 1961 was actually
1962, when Chris was "about 6" - in late 61 he was only just turning 5.)

    Hey Ian,
Nice job. You have the skeleton down pretty well. As you said when you
first got here, Pirsig himself believes that a bio of the author helps add
context to his work. I would be interested in hearing some of the
conclusions you may have drawn from your biographical research. Moreover,
I'd be interested to see those dates compared to other historically relevant
timelines (ie. what was going in philosophy, what was going in politics, in
    academia, in psychology, etc).

    take care
    rick
