Hi all,
So in Platt's view of history, Hitler and Mussolini weren't Fascists,
just really, really mean Socialists. Sort of like Eugene V. Debbs on
steroids. I guess it's irrelevant to him that the forms of
government they instituted match perfectly the dictionary definition
of fascism, and that the socio-economic realities of their
dictatorships correlate perfectly with my comments about the cozy
relationship between fascism and big business.
And yes, those phony "intellectuals" living off the generosity of
benevolent corporations! The fact that all of us, to one extent or
another, must interact with corporations, even to the point of
dependency in some cases, is just more evidence of their pervasive
influence. To say, therefore, that we are wrong, or hypocritical or
fraudulent, to criticise the connection between government and
business elites is just very bad reasoning indeed. The same argument
could have been used to silence American slaves and abolitionists in
the 19th century.
Best to all,
Mark Steven Heyman (msh)
