I'm with Martin and Horse. This is a simple issue. The SOM can be boiled
down to mean simply a dualistic view of life which separates existence
into a higher world of 'real' reality and a contingent one of mere
occurrence and supposition. That's that. Pirsig is saying that all
things can be seen as one whole, and it is this which guarantees the
meaningfulness, the Quality, of all things, even the smallest.
