Excellent point, Maggie!

Bo was talking about how the duality between chaos and order did not
have a bearing on the subject-object split. Indeed, he suggested that
the former duality is at the heart of Pirsig's ideas: chaos represents
Dynamic Quality and order, Static.

Maggie raised the point: if Dynamic Q is chaos and Static, order, how do
you get from one to the other? What's the interface?

Excellent point. Dynamic Quality is not chaotic, it is the living
expression of order in the present moment. It is spontaneous and
unpredictable, but operates within the boundaries of Static forms.

Pirsig's philosophy is opposed to the idea of chaos. Everything, he
says, is Quality and has quality; everything is included on his
metaphysical map, everything meaningful. Nothing is utterly random or
unintelligible.

If you ask me, the chaos-order division belongs to the Greek mentality
which lies behind the s-o split.
