Time: Not that time of the morning? Already!

Thanks for the feedback on my last post folks.

I suppose I had better back up with hard logic, the pretty pictures of
time-arrows I used to show that the Quality cut is at 90 degrees to the
SOM dualism.

If the Quality cut is lateral not vertical, then it is aligned with what
we call lateral thinking.
And lateral thinking uses a voluntary 'stuckness' to make its'
breakthrough.

Of course, 'stuckness' as a problem solving tool was explored fully in
ZMM.

Indeed, the MOQ is itself a product of lateral thinking.

Instead of trying to punch a hole through the wall that constitutes the
problem to be solved, the lateralist smears the wall laterally with a
mishmash of all the concepts at his disposal. She then sits back and
waits for the concepts to penetrate the wall by osmosis. Voila! the
solution materialises on the far side of the wall, at which point the
wall disappears and the lateralist walks through.

Nice trick.

Water solves problems this way- wearing down rocks with only caresses;
transporting itself from A to B as vapour. If you are thinking like
water, then you are on a spiritual winner.
(You guessed it- i'm a mystic.)

Well, we would have expected to find that a more advanced thinking
process would be
at right angles to it precursor. After all evolution uses right angles.
Primitive life knows only forward/back. More advanced life discovers
up/down at a right angle to forward back.
The next right angle is the sexual (and dualistic) of the left/right
axis; then time's imaginary axis.

In evolution, the next degree of freedom is perpendicular to the last.
In Pirsig's work we have found a degree of freedom we had not known.

Literally.

Aside:
Of course the Static/Dynamic 'dualism' is not a real dualism because all
is actually dynamic.
The Static is as ephemeral as a jets' vapour trail.

5Aside:
Donny in your last post you summarised as follows:

>Monism: everything that exists has X trait
>Dualism: everything that is exists has either X or Y
>Pluralism: it can be A,B,C,D...

I am reminded that we can regard a society as a scaled up individual,
microcosm to macrocosm. Society is like a big baby- with needs and
wants.

Now a baby is at heart a Monist. Indeed at first a baby is
undifferentiated God.
Then the baby becomes a dualist- with Mommy. And a duelist too!
Finally our toddler becomes a pluralist in the playground with A,B,C,and
D...

Ever see two babies grab the same toy at the same time. Ever see two
societies do the same. Result: war. As individuals we can grow to be
saints, but our societies still lag way behind- at the toddler stage.

Perhaps the MOQ has come now because our societal baby is at last
becoming a pluralist.

Anyway...

Yawn......Goodnight John-boy....

Oh..and.. Goodnight Robert M........
                                                (M is the letter of
suffering y'know. So.......thanks rMp.)
