Mmmm! What a lot of trouble I could get into with this one!

So what is this DQ/SQ split and why did Pirsig make it in the way that
he did. He seems to have identified what it is that comes under the
banner of Static Quality and created a sort of hierarchy:

Inorganic Patterns of Value (InoPoV)

Biological Patterns of Value (BPoV)

Social Patterns of Value (SPoV)

Intellectual Patterns of Value (IntPoV)

Somewhere beyond/external to these is:

Dynamic Quality

Pirsig seems to have related the first four to the phenomenal world -
the world that we can experience through our senses and introspection,
but has been fairly cagey as to what DQ is and how we can know it.

At times it appears to be what drives the process of change - Evolution?
- whilst at other times it is that level/process/phenomenom(?) beyond
Intellect. How does something that is so seperate from knowable patterns
of value interact with them.

In a way this seems to be similar to the idea that there is a force
which acts and that which is acted upon. That sounds like a good place
to start - even if it is still a little vague.

So Dynamic Quality is some form of force/power/idea which acts upon (or
encapsulates) Static Quality which are those patterns of value which
generate reality.

OK then, I have my asbestos suit fitted - flame away!!!

It was what got written down.
It was as simple as that!"
