Jason, Kevin, Diana,
[I know that I wrote recently that I will go away for a few days and think more
about what you all are writing. But I have a few minutes.....]

.- Somehow I agree with Jason about his position 'Gumption=Power' and that power
is the capacity to do work. But then when Kevin's reply to Jason he writes:
"If everyone does have this "power", then of what use is the word? Or, more
specifically, why subdivide it into classes? "power" seems to be a
hinderance to this forum. Please help me better understand this."
In response to this I will add:
Power is the capacity to do work. Now ask yourselves :
    How does one evaluates work?
Is everyone with power under the obligation to excursus or use 'that
power'?
Power is there and everyone has it, and what the MOQ tells us about power (or
anything one wishes to analyze) is that real power is:
"Freedom from domination of static patterns" and at the same time "Freedom
from domination doesn't mean the destruction or blind attack over the static
patterns".
See page 361, Ch 24 Corgi edition Lila RMP, here is the quotation:
"They should be dusted off and re-examined, fairly and impartially, to see what
they were trying to accomplish and what they actually did accomplish toward
building a stronger society".

Power can be used for destructive or constructive goals, and everyone who
realizes that they are in possession of Power feel a blind obligation to
exersise it. The MOQ tells me that I can choose to use power or not to use it.
Anyone who reads this might say that if one has power and chooses not to use it
is a 'fool'. Everyone is free to have their opinion, and that bothers me equal
to nothing. The problem becomes complicated when other people, institutions and
situation come in and 'attack you' or simply make and environment where most of
one's freedom is restricted. You feel their Power over you and there and then
one has to be prepared to use all the elements within your own power to resist
the attack in your way of life. It can be done, it is not easy, but is possible.
That is what the MOQ tells me.

In the back of my mind is a book called " The poverty of Power" to which I will
make reference later...because (caramba!) I've run out of TIME.

Ciao Bello(a)s
Carmen.
