Drose, I did not mean to imply that money was on the top of your list. Or on
the top of anyone else's list here at MD. It just seems to me that there is
some kind of deep inherent selfishness within us all, and I don't think it is
totally beneficial to our souls. I dislike the dog-eat-dog mentality that
modern society outwardly seems to perpetuate. I think there are many good
people in the world, such as yourself.

I will drop the subject because I know no one wants a repeat of December. I
will just say in closing that I agree with your sentiment that we should care
for our loved ones and try to enjoy life. The only thing that bothers me is
that we have accepted the quest for money as part of our daily mundane
routine. Going to work, for example. Few could build a convincing argument
that the majority of the American population works for something besides
money. Young people are told to "do what they love and follow their heart"
but in reality we expect them to be smart enough to get a job that "pays
well." Whatever rewards a given job pays your spirit is considered secondary
to what it pays your wallet. That's just the way it is. In this sense I feel
society literally forces us to value money more than we want to.
