Sorry, this is not correct. Between statement one and statement two
there is a change of language or the line is in error.

In 1+1=10

It is read as one plus one equals 0ne Zero. (equality test)

In statement two in a computer program the statement is

_set_ A to equal the current value of A plus one. (assignment)

The operator is an assignment operator not an equality operator. Or it
is incorrect.

A similar thing is going on in the discussion.

People are switching between meanings of the value of insanity. The
value of insanity being equal to being mentally ill is not the same as
setting the value of insanity as being sufficiently mentally ill as to
be able to enter a plea of insanity under law. You can be legally
declared mentally ill and still not be able to plea insanity under
law.

"We hold that all men are equal"

This is patently untrue yet I hold it as a wonderful philosophy.
