A good post. I too have pondered just <what> are these corporations we
own.
What has not been said, thus far, is that corporations are social
linkings of some of the most productive/wealthy in society. Amongst
the notional 1% of people who work for corporations are those who
will/are change the world.
Throughout the history of the world are those who can/do and those
whom empower them to this end. In feudal times a lord would decide
that some artist/artisan had merit and fund them to produce whatever.
In our modern western society our government have derogated this power
in lieu of being able to start wars with impunity. Rather than invest
in the grass roots of our economies they allow it to work in it's own
way.
For those of us in the 1% we have heath care, a community (the
corporation) and support groups of people who can help us grow.
That the rest of society chooses to watch re-runs of "I love Lucy" and
wear Nikes is their choice. They already take vast amounts that the
corporations generate and spend it on dross.
Eating food we all know will kill them and then chosing to demand that
those who made different choices fund their mistakes....
Corporations are groupings of *like minded* people who are choosing to
work *collectively* in a direction other than that of their nation.
Very few of these groupings under perform the nations in which they
operate.
............
Not necessarily how I chose to view this problem. Though it is another
way to look at the data.
The truth is that in a "democratic" society the average is a drag
factor upon the exceptional. The vote of someone who knows about
things being decided holds the same weight as someone who has no
interest...
Perhaps when we introduce testing at the poll station society might
catch up with the corporation. A few simple questions.
1) Who is the chancellor.
2) What was the last military engagement made by this country.
3) Who currently holds the post you are voting upon...
Again, not necessarily how I see these things but worthy of
consideration...
regards,
Ian
