I certainly admire Robert Pirsig.
My life has been a living hell. I don't fit in anywhere I go. I've been
kicked out of fraternities, fired from jobs, and scorned by professors. It
took me 9 years to get a college degree and my qpa was a 2.04. The teachers
were always getting onto me telling me to do this and do that and blah blah
blah. Yuck. Fuck them. I had to work, and work hard. I made my living with a
45 pound chainsaw, and a Vermeer Stumpgrinder.
So many people believe in free will. It is easy to say, "Well, you CHOSE to
get an F." Bullshit. No one chooses an F. Society chooses F's for them.
School is all about static quality. Be good little boys and girls, get to
class on time, do everything the teacher says, write the paper he or she
would write and turn that into them, and you will SUCCEED! And, of course,
if you want to fit into a capitalist society, you need to be prepared to be
a pawn for corporate assimilation of your individuality. What is capitalism
but using others to obtain your own goals?
When I read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, I cried. I was 27
years old, and I cried. Finally, I thought, someone who understands what
this is like! Being creative is pure hell. Thinking different from everyone
else will get you into trouble quick.
Well, enough rage against the machine for now. However, I would like for you
to check out my website.
www.neonome.com
I have worked to create a software that allows anyone to run a named
webserver in their own home. I did this because 2 years ago, I wanted to do
it, and the ISP's didn't want me to. They wanted me to use their servers, or
setup my server in their house. Rediculous.
My software allows you to map any ip address-either a static ip or a dynamic
ip to a friendly name(not some stupid www.stupidname.com but an actual real
name) and anyone with the free client, or through my website can reach your
computer. Although initially we were going to charge for name registration,
now we are not. You can register a NeoNome name for free.
So if anyone is interested in running a webserver out of their own home, and
you can't afford a full time internet connection, check out my site. One
last thing, I have been told repeatedly that my idea was stupid, and that
this couldn't be done.
-Thanks
