nice to see your cogent input; bit mellow for you, though!

incidentally, given that there are still those who solve the mind/matter (or
mind / mind) problem by construing mind as epiphenomenal (that is: the
causality goes one way, from the underlying physical structures which
support the phenomenon of 'mind', but not the reverse), isn't this
tantamount to 'value' being epiphenomenal, unless 'value' were in some way
extrinsic to the mind considering it, and in which case isn't that what
Pirsig was implying in giving 'quality' some 'objective' reality? (I infer
that by this Pirsig meant not just ..independant of any given individual's
perception, but also sort of floating above the belief structures of any (
even all) given society, group, etc. Which is the nearest thing to a
concrete idea I personally can think of, - much more reified than the money
analogy.
