FW: MD Symptoms, not cause

terrorism is a global problem, just like global warming is a global problem.

lessons must be learned from last weeks atrocities. The primary student must
and will be America.

Isolationism has proven itself so hideously to be, not just morally bankrupt
but pragmatically unsustainable. America will make good out of this evil
(indeed that stands as one of her most beautifully simple virtues) and that
good must take the form of embracing her role in the international
community.

No more unilateral treaty abdications, no more kissinger-style raids of
terror, no more active or passive sponsoring of state and rebel terrorism
(it should be shouted from the highest rooftops that bin Laden, like Saddam,
like Pinochet ... were trained, sponsored, aided and encouraged by American
governemts); no more blindness to the terror inflicted on others by her
'friends and allies'; no more abdication of responsibility (pay up what is
owed to the UN, honour previous commitments, give due recognition to the
democratically determined will of the people of the world).

America's power is great; attendent is great responsibility.

What action is to be taken over the coming days causes us all concern but is
an irrellevance in the face of the change that America now has the
opportunity to embrace.

I do agree that action should be taken against the terrorist responsible for
this, but my mom made a good point to me, she said that by dealing with the
terrorists you are dealing with the symptoms, not the cause of a much
greater problem. There is a large imbalance in the world between the
"haves" and "have nots" and I believe this is the root of the hatered many
hold against the US and the whole Western capitalistic world. Leaders
shouldn't be meeting to discuss military actions, but rather to discuss a
way to unite the world and somehow find a balance in it. I don't know if
this is possible, but I hope something close to it is.
