Hi Platt:
Did you forget to put the chapter number or were you afraid someone might look
it up? Just kidding. But seriously I don't want to respond without first
reading what Pirsig said so if you have the page number..
I did a quick look for the quote and found this...
"Years later after he was certified as "sane" he read "objective" medical
descpriptions of what he had experienced and he was shocked at how slanderous
they were. They were like descriptions of a religous sect written by a
different hostile religious sect....Psychiatrists were not allowed to practice
psychiatry if they were insane. It was REQUIRED that they literaly did not
know what they were talking about" (page 377)
So again i don't want to comment on your quote until i read it in its context.
Forgive me for not faithfully accepting the absolutes you are preaching Dr.
Platt.
P.S. I just saw the movie The Merry War for the first time today. It was a
great movie and I would like to suggest that we use the ARGUMENT IS A MERRY
WAR metaphor. (Imagine me squirting a water pistol at you right now)
It's all good,
Erin
