I think the problem is "What are the laws of physics?"

However the way I see it (and I think the way Pirsig
probably means it) is that the laws of physics of
Newton and Einstien are descriptive as in, there is a
true reality (dynamic reality/quality) and Newton and
Einstien from observation of this dynamic created
descriptive rules that generally describe what that
reality is. Under this descriptive model, their laws
come from not only the true dynamic reality but also
from the static background which includes biological,
social and intellectual static patterns. Hence
Pirsigs science relys on social patterns.
I've gotta dash but will maybe write more on this
later...
