MD Creationism

Hello

I think you can interchange God and Quality with the right
"conception" of God. Unfortunately I don't think the Creationists
I come across have a very good conception of God.
It is not the word God that gets to me but peoples
view of it. I notice Wim (Quaker) uses God it doesn't have that
same effect on me as if a creationist uses it.

Related point.
Someone just told me this

> In the bible, it even mentions that the beginning
> was the word,
> really, it says "en arkhê ên ho lógos". while "en
> arkhê ên" is well translated with "in the beginning
> there was", "the word" falls miles short of "ho
> lógos".

I just read this in Tao of Physics:

"Heraclitus taught that all changes in world arise from dynamic
and cyclic interplay of opposites and he saw any pairs of opposites as
a unity. This unity , which contains and transcends all opposing
forces, he called the Logos. The split of this unity began
with the Elatic school, which assumed a Divine Principle standing
above all gods and men. This principle was first identified with the unity of
the universe but was later seen as an intelligent and personal God
who stands above the world and directs it. Thus began a trend
of thought which led, ultimately, to the separation of spirit
and matter and to a dualism which became characteristic of
Western philosophy."

I think "in the beginning was logos" is better
then "in the beginning was the word" just as I think
the term Quality works better then the term God just
because the latter are too heavily influenced by
Western assumptions.

Here is a quote from Pirsig:

"The word "mind" is freighted with all sorts of historic
philosophical disputation. Buddhists use it much
differently than Western idealists who use it much
differently than Western materialists. Like the term
"God", it`s best avoided. To prevent confusion, the MOQ
treats "mind" as the exact equivalent of "static
intellectual patterns" and avoids use of the term when
possible."
