Elliot:
I dissagree. libertarians want world with no political power and
distribtion of goods through a market system. Anarchy (no need for this
fancy enlightened anarchy bit, this is what serious anarchists think.
adding enlightened to the beggining only distances real anarchy from the
pablum pushed by ignorant middle classed kids, but were all intelligent
enough here to no that that anarchy wouldnt fly for an instant, so there is
no need HERE to use the word enlightened), sorry, anarchy is the same thing
but rather than a market organization there is a socialist one.
Rog's heart skips a beat, allow me to explian. first, someone once said
"the socialists may win but socialism never". Socialsm is not defined by
governemnt control as rog thinks it is. Rather, they'd like a world without
government, but in imposing this system unnaturally government control has
become tied to the idea of socialism in the minds of many. Or rather, and
more appropriately, let us say their are two modes of goods distribution
(market and communal) and either of these can have much gov't intervention
or none:
Strong market: state capitalism
no gov't market: libertarianism
strong communalism: Socialism/Communism
No gov't communalism: Anarchism
But among utopians, socialism/communism and communalism are often used
interchangeably. Rog argues against strong gov't communalism, and some (i
wont try and speak for all the socialists here) who argue for socialism are
refering to weak or no government communalism. anarchism, or for the
squemish, enlightened anarchism, anarcho-syndicalism, whatever fancy term
you want. Chomsky and many other thinkers have something to say about
anarcho-syndicalism if you want to check that out.
But, lets not throw the communal baby out with the strong government
bathwater. otherwise to many assumptions are built into the conversation.
