Elliot:
You missed the point. What is keeping the network together now is
economics. I was refering to your crtitique that socialist communes have
been failures. Theoretically, if one does not have to deal with strangers
that one does not trust it is possible. The majority of people wouldnt
screw their mom or their good friends, where as they might not feel to bad
about jipping some third world family (i know, its consensual, but i've made
my argument about the goodness of such behavior). Non olet, it doesnt
smell, we dont know where it came from, we didnt have to see it, if you say
there is exploitation ok but i dont feel it. Economics now, and not
compassion decides how we deal with people. But in smaller groups, we deal
with people through compassion, we forgive and try to understand and we
often to our best not to hurt or screw these people. When you feel a
connection with someone you simply dont need an economic motive to provide
for them (my mom doesnt need money to want to raise me well, i dont need
money to treat my friends with respect and i dont need any dollars to be
civil to close aquaintances)
In the current "network" i deal with people i've never met and have no
reason to trust. further more, if they can profit a little by screwing me
in any small (or big) way and not get caught, well...
In the netork i suggested however, we need only to deal with family and
friends, those we trust and who trust us (and for good reason). we can let
family and compssion be the organizing force rather than profit/loss and
punishment. To much distance between people and things get just a little
unreliable.
If you think if wrong ok, but dont try to tell me that im so stupid as to
suggest as a change what already exsists. next time try to find the truth
you havent thought of rather than dismiss it.
