Hi George,

Of course, you are right. Not only are there many groups, but it is not
always easy to categorize all individuals into separate groups. We often
belong to more than one or easily slide from one to the other. I listen to
Amy Goodman on Democracy Now (www.democracynow.org) and use these
sensibilities to present an opposing viewpoint to one that is often portrayed
as "American." I go to see Hollywood movies, occasionaly drink a Coke, own a
pair of Nike running shoes, rooted for Team USA in the Olympics, and felt
anger and sadness while listening to our President in the immediate aftermath
of Sept 11. See, I am a contradiction. And as ROG points out, many of
America's critics are trading freely with us and covet our products and way
of life. However, there are no excuses for the insensitivities and contempt
that many Americans feel towards individuals, groups or nations who criticize
our way of life and attitude toward the rest of the world.

Regards,
Andy
