By "theoretical", I was referring to this definition of theory: "the
general or abstract principles of a body of fact, a science, or an art".
It seems that the basic, general principles of science include the
notion of empirical truth, so empirical truth belongs to the theory of
science, hence it is theoretical (related to a theory). If I knew why
you're asking, then I could maybe provide a more useful answer...
As for the idea "empirical truth" being theoretical in the sense of
belonging *only* to theory (hypotetical?), that opens a wide area of
discussion (which, I'm sure, was already travelled far and wide in MD).
Empirical truth, aka "objective" truth, at least in the way this is
commonly conceived by scientists and ordinary people, is a SOM concept.
