Thanks for bringing this up. I agree. Intellectuals, especially science
types, ignore the presence of awareness in all their pronouncements.
Reason? Because in their worldviews, consciousness remains a
complete mystery. Better to ignore it than admit they have no idea how
it fits into their scheme of things. One of my reasons for liking the MOQ
so much is that it tackles the problem of awareness right off the bat and
makes it central to reality.

Again, I agree. The mathematical laws of physics must have been in
place prior to the Big Bang for space-time to be created and the world to
have evolved as it did. I also believe with Pirsig that moral codes are
real and that morality was there at the beginning, underpinning
everything and driving evolution towards greater versatility and freedom.
To me that's a more rational explanation than contingency theories,
otherwise known as "oops, here we are."
