Hi Matt,

I share some of your concerns about the MoQ, although I wouldn't phrase them
in quite the way you have. Perhaps in a few weeks time I'll come back to
this. But I wanted to say something relating to your postscript. I find all
the discussions I've been involved with in this forum fruitful, if I didn't
I wouldn't be here. And frankly, I think many of the criticisms are beside
the point. The beauty of a forum like this is that you don't have to read
every post, you can attend to only those which interest you. People are here
because of a shared interest in Pirsig and what he has written, and even if
discussions head away from there for a while, they always return, and those
discussions help to establish the 'community of interest' which this forum
fosters at its best. For example, I bet many people (all those lurkers out
there) couldn't give two hoots about my recent debate with DMB about
conservatism, but I don't think it was wrong to have that discussion here.
If nothing else, it has helped me to clarify my own thinking (on
conservatism and on the MoQ) - even if it did take more contributions than
I've managed in the previous six months put together to get there.

So even if you do go back to being a lurker for a while, I'm glad you're not
signing off completely. I think it's a shame when someone does that (eg 3WD,
who had an interesting perspective on things). On that subject, I hope Bo is
still around, and hasn't let the bad-mouthing get him down....

I think I'm going to shut up a bit as well, until I can finally get that
reply sent to John B :-)
