A lot depends on how you define love. A mothers love for her children is emergent
from biological patterns, for her partner from social patterns and for her art from
intellectual patterns. The word "LOVE" is probably one of the most abused words
in the English language.
I agree with you that it is not the highest attribute of life, but life would be pretty
meaningless for many of us without it.
