The "zombie within" sounds a lot like good old "automatism" which is
defined as a state in which an individual performs complex actions in a
skilled manner without full awareness of what he is doing. A common
example is driving a car while daydreaming. Psychologists have known
about this phenomenon for a long time. So what's new?
