MD Disagree with FINTAN'S MYSTICISM and HIS VIEW OF THE MOQ

Great post. I agree with everything in it (that's a first!). I think the problem here is
the concept of mysticism which falls into 4 Main groups:

Theistic Mysticism
Non-Theistic Mysticism
Shamanism
New-Age 'Mysticism'

The first 3 are perfectly valid forms of mysticism but the last one is no more than
an attempt to justify meaningless babble. Anyone can say anything and then
appeal to mysticism and revelation as a means of justification and "proof". What
most new-age mystics seem to miss is that true mystic experience is beyond
words, beyond ordinary communication, beyond sense experience and beyond
conceptual differentiation. And yet the most fervent supporters of mysticism on
the list at the moment are the most verbose. Stunning really! The irony seems to
be lost on them. Lao Tsu summed it up perfectly in Tao Te Ching - "The Tao that
can be told is not the Eternal Tao".
