INDIANA JONES & THE LILA TWINS
Hi David, Squad,
>We'll say our hypothetical person is Lila's good twin and call her Lola.
>Unlike her evil twin, Lola has quality at all four levels. Lola is a fine
>physical specimen, in fact she's beautifully healthy....
The remarkable thing is that Lola and Lila are not two different persons,
but two aspects of the same person: Lila. When Lila looks in a mirror, she
sees Lila looking back. In order to be able to see her Lola alter ego
instead, she would have to take some elixir like the drink that turned
kindly Dr. Jeckyl into dangerous Mr. Hyde. Or she might keep a painted
portrait of Lola in her home as did Dorian Gray.
Lila/Lola is a split personality. The split is a symmetrical one. It is made
down the centreline of the human body; dividing the hemispheres of the brain
into mirror images of each other. Dividing the mind into Lila and Lola. This
mirror is the mirror of whom the evil queen asks "Who is the fairest of them
all?" The mirror of relationship- of duality. An interpenetrated duality by
virtue of left controlling right and vice versa.
Pirsig wrote in ZAMM of the need to select carefully where you make the
first cut with your intellectual knife. He chose to cut in his way and
produced the MOQ. I choose to cut down the centreline of the human body- to
produce a Metaphysics of Meaning.
>All evolution was dynamic and the first three levels
>are in direct contact with Dynamic Quality, unmediated by the intellect.
> The conscious parts of our
>minds can be changed. The intellectual level is different than all the
>others in this respect. The freedom enjoyed by the fourth level is
>really quite radical by comparison to the first three levels.
>
>The price the intellectual level pays for this freedom is loss of direct
>contact with Dynamic Quality. Intellect comes after the fall, or rather
>the fall comes because of the intellect. Now all experience is mediated
>through the intellect and as a result there is a split between the
>intellect and its ground of being.
The split you speak of David is the split in Western verbal thought.
The tyranny of words. The play of consciousness with a hidden author.
>The other three levels are still in contact with Dynamic
>quality directly. Since those levels exist within us, we sense dynamic
>quality throughout our being and the intellect is very interested in
>explaining that too. In this way the intellect is compelled to look for
>concepts that will accommodate the sense of alienation and the sense of
>connectedness at the same time.
I feel that the mind's compulsion to search is inherent in intellect itself
driven by the godhead.. It does not need the prompting of the other levels.
Consciousness is a play designed for
cathartic review when the performance is over.
Speaking of performance, this is where Indiana Jones comes in.
Human consciousness can live as Lila or as Lola or an infinite
range in between. When the portal raises, we move through the
mirror like Alice or Indiana Jones. we must capture the treasure and
return to our own side before the portal lowers again.
Indiana Jones only barely makes it under the portal before it closes
the magic door to the other side for another aeon.
Thus do the static and dynamic interplay in the torus of consciousness,
Nice synthesis David, thanks.
Unlike Lithien, i'm not a Joseph Campbell devotee,
but I am open to persuasion folks.
