hi, thiago:

you say:

<The study of these dialects is as important of the study of their
mythology to analise the way they understand reality and the organization
of their culture.

lithien:

language helps form our reality as we engage in agreements among the other
members of our society on the names of things. there is a book that i
cherish called "Time and Reality in the Thought of the Maya" by Miguel Leon
Portilla in which SOM appears distinctly. i quote:

"Time is the life and origin of all things. Isolated from time, space
becomes inconceivable. In the absence of time-cycles, there is no life,
nothing happens, not even death. For this reason to inquire into the
deepest meaning that time and its computations held for the Maya may be
equivalent to probing what was the soul of their culture."

The Maya perceived and lived the mysteries posed by a universe whose deepest
level is time. For centuries they cultivated their obsession and it colored
their reality. i'm wondering, thiago, if there is any correlation with any
of the Brazilian tribes you mention? what is their concept of time?
