dear glove:
you say:
<my memory an incident when I was a small boy, in the window watching the
lightning of a thunderstorm, and all of a sudden my mother hurrying me away,
telling me that if I watched the lightning too closely, it would strike me.
lithien:
your childhood story regarding lightning strikes is a good example of what i
mean. to me lightning can be symbolic of dynamic quality. there is beauty
in the terror of a lightning strike and yet in itself its neither good nor
bad even though it can be destructive by nature.
when it causes loss of human life we view it as bad...but is it really?
only from our human perspective. im sure that the big bang annihilated all
that was contained within the universe only to give birth to a new one.
you added:
<Good and
evil may each exist, but only as complementary shadows of perceived static
quality everyday reality.
lithien:
the shadows of the reality with is Dynamic Quality? that's the way i see
it. much like plato's truth.
glove, when talking of the Dali Lama, you said:
<how there is a
long-term viewpoint that most people fail to measure at all in their daily
lives.
lithien:
because of our short lifespan we tend to see the world differently. our
notion of time is broken down in minute portions...seconds, minutes, hours,
days, months, years, decades, even millenia are small portions of time
compared to the billions of years that forces in the universe must work
with. our lifespans are so ridiculously unimportant and yet for us so
vital! it is laughable really.
i thank you for sharing your thoughts with me,
lithien
