Interesting how the OED (concise) entry for good is ten times as long as
the one for evil ! Also the first definition is:
Having the *right* ('Rta' again) *qualities*

Is not Pirsig making the point again that the observer considered
'goodness' (most definitely a noun) more important (of higher value)
than the 'dogness' ?

OED (concise) - goodness: .... what is good in thing, its essence or
strength; .....

Remember that in the classic representation of the yin-yang ultimate
principle each polarity contains an element of the other.

Before the advent of cloning it was impossible to contemplate the
creation of life (other than asexually reproducing life anyway, and
whether or not you consider that there is life before birth) without a
female *and* a male element. An egg was not much good without a sperm.
Now as I understand it a perfect facsimile of a sheep requires only an
egg and genetic material which could come from either sex. Could the
'fixing' of the dynamic quality inherent in sexual reproduction into a
static genetic code carried forward generation after generation
represent the ultimate evil or could it offer a path by which a stable
biological pattern of values might more rapidly 'evolve' to a higher
intellectual plane ?
