Hi David, Bo and LS:

Like Bodvar I read your recommended article, “lmplications of a
Fundamental Consciousness." It's an excellent overview of post-modernist
"panpsychic" thinking about the mind-matter problem. I kept nodding
agreement with what the author wrote.

Way back at the beginning of the LS, the question was asked, "Are
atoms aware?" Based on the writings of Pirsig, most of those involved in
the discussion at that time agreed that they were. "Fundamental
Consciousness” confirms that view.

But, I kept asking myself, where in this author's theory are the values?
Where are the morals?

I found precious little, if any, reference to the central theme and basic
axioms of Pirsig's metaphysics (Awareness=Morality=Reality=Quality). I
wonder if you found the same deficiency?

All the scientific trendy stuff like emergents, complexity, algorithms,
quantum, qualia, chaos, etc. sound impressive when tossed about in
philosophical discussions, but unless they are directly tied to the idea of
the Good, they are at best peripheral to the MoQ.

So, again like Bo, I can only hope that someday these deep thinkers will
remove their blinders to see the beauty, simplicity and elegance of the
MoQ.

Platt
