Erin,
The 100th monkey business came from one of Lyall Watson's books (I forget
which one), where he described it more or less as in this link. He (Watson)
based it on reading some papers, but the original authors of the papers said
they had said no such thing. Watson then acknowledged that he had done some
"reading between the lines" to come up with his account. So: was Watson
reading what wasn't there, or were the original paper authors scared of
sounding unscientific, or what? Anyway, I wouldn't take the Ken Keyes
account as a straightforward observation of "what really happened".
