Hi Platt,
Last word from me on this, below.

My point is that NO SINGLE source of information is trustworthy on
its own, not Fox, not CNN, not Chomsky. Lies are told, mistakes are
made. This is why it's so important to check references and look for
corroboration across a wide range of sources.

It warms my heart, however, to know that Fox News consistently wins
in the ratings battle--just more evidence of how easy it is for
greedy war mongers to manipulate stupid Americans.
msh says:
Well, it's good to bring this thread back to Fox, though the same can
be said of television news in general. I know you're being
sarcastic, but there's a lot of truth to what you say, except "ill-
informed" is a better word than "stupid." However, people don't
rely on Fox News because they are ill-informed; they are ill-informed
because they rely on Fox News. This was shown quite convincingly in
a recent study, done last year I think. Here's a summary and link,
so you can begin your thorough investigation:
"A new study based on a series of seven nationwide polls conducted
from January through September of this year reveals that before and
after the Iraq war, a majority of Americans have had significant
misperceptions and these are highly related to support for the war
with Iraq.
"The polling, conducted by the Program on International Policy (PIPA)
at the University of Maryland and Knowledge Networks, also reveals
that the frequency of these misperceptions varies significantly
according to individuals’ primary source of news.
"Those who primarily watch Fox News are significantly more likely to
have misperceptions, while those who primarily listen to NPR or watch
PBS are significantly less likely."
