Hi Wim,
Thanks for responding. I'm not sure I understand your position here.
You say an economy can be organized using the following five
principles, which you further define below.
1) Enforcement
2) Natural order
3) Force
4) Dependence
5) Convincement
Can you describe an existing economic system, showing how these four
principles come into play?
More comments below....
wim:
Each of these principles can be seen as a way to make others work for
you.
msh says:
Ok.
wim:
They can also be understood as BOTH ways to create more collective
wealth and survival chances for a society as a whole AND ways to
create a social elite that gets more than it needs.
msh says:
Ok.
wim:
The balance between these two effects determines whether it also
creates an underclass that gets les than it needs.
msh says:
Ok, but this is where some examples of real economic systems would be
helpful.
wim:
Combining them can help to create balance. Democratic government
combines force and convincement. Calling something 'democratic'
doesn't guarantee such balance however...
msh says:
Ok. Sure.
wim:
Anyway, we need all these principles in modern economies, even though
we would like the role of 'convincement' to grow.
msh says:
Again, I'm not sure what you are saying, as it seems WAY too
theoretical. Please provide an example of an economy, real or
imaginary, that employs these five principles, describing each
principle in action.
Thanks,
Mark Steven Heyman (msh)
