    On leaving out God - no argument here .....

    On metaphysics vs pebbles - sorry to disagree.

    It is a limited old materialist view of physics if it covers pebbles
    but not brains and minds that therefore seem to require something
    beyond physics. Physics (by my axiomatic definition of the word, this
    side of the 20th century) explains or will explain all processes and
    phenomena in the world. (Studies of epistemology, ontology and the
    philosophy of mind, Pirsigian Quality included, have only firmed up
    that view for me.)

    Spontaneous disturbances in the chaotic void (or whatever) would seem
    to cover just about everything, even if some of the physics is just
    not very well explained yet.

    Just another non-existent duality ?
