Some epigrammatic thoughts about Pirsig's "Quality:"
Quality is first of all immediate experience.
Quality is the primal value that strikes the senses directly.
Quality is sensed as real, but cannot be described.
Quality is not something observed, it’s something felt.
Quality is immediate and involuntary. It’s an intuitive, not an
intellectual concept.
One does not understand Quality any more than one understands the song of
a bird.
All things possess an innate Quality template.
Quality is a constant, but different for each independent entity.
Quality is recognition of a psychic world by a psychic entity.
Science, law, medicine, business -- all noble pursuits. But Quality is
what we live for.
If materialism has an Achilles heal, the mystery of Quality is it.
