    Matt,

Um, I wasn't asking you to "open up to me". I'm not asking you to be my
friend. The complaint was about your apparent aversion to the actual
substance of the matter. The complaint is that your philsophical postions
seem to refer to the history of philosophy rather than the substance of the
issues. Taking a postion on constroversial current events and such does not
require any kind of intimacy. And for the millionth time, I do not despise
you. Its not about you.Postmodern nihilism is what I depise. If you identify
yourself with that position so much that an attack on it feels like an
attack on you personally, well, that's your problem not mine.

Personally, I rather enjoy my enemies. You know how Jesus said to love your
enemies. Well I do. I love them AS enemies. And you're one of my favorites.
I just love to hate your philosophy. In fact, I like to imagine that you
look like Tucker Carlson, who I see as a completely adorable demon from
    hell.

    DMB,

    About the philosophy/philosophology distinction:

An appropriate response to you would be in my post directed towards Steve,
Erin, Robin, and David H, that I sent a day or two ago. I sent it twice and

its gotten lost (along with my reply to Anthony about the paper). I sent a
note to Horse. So, we can only wait.

About my Nada participation in things outside of (the history of)
    philosophy:

I've answered this many times. It's going to be answered again in my other
post. But you did ask me about my personal life, and here's my answer to
that: there is no way I would ever open up to a person like you. The way
you in particular, and others also, have treated me in the last few years, I

have no desire at all to give out any personal information. Because I used
to, like other new people to the MD. There's still a post somewhere in the
archives that describes my "philosophical awakening." But every time I've
opened up to the MD, certain participants use it against me. They start
these crazy psychological speculations that are the stupidest, basest, most
uncalled for things I've ever read. And what would you call them? Funny?
It's sad, it's really sad. Why the hell would I open up to you? If you
want to know more about me, you'd have to ask people like Rick and Sam and
Andy because I think of those people as my friends, despite never having met

them, and you open up to your friends. You open up when you feel
comfortable around somebody. You don't open up to somebody that's only ever

    treated like a despised enemy.

    Matt
