All politicians obfuscate in order to "cover their backs" at such

Me too. Except, in this case at least, Galloway did not obfuscate,
but clearly rebutted the so-called evidence against him, as can be
seen in the long quote provided by Ant McWatt.

Although it's true that Galloway tap danced his way around questions
regarding his friendship with the businessman Fawaz Zureik, he made
at least a prima facie case that documents in the possession of his
questioners were not to be trusted. What's telling is that his
exposure of their possibly fraudulent evidence was ignored by the
panel and went whoosh, right down the memory hole, as if it had never
    been mentioned.

It will be interesting to see if any serious investigation takes
place into whether or not the panel has based its case on forged
documents and, if so, just how those documents came into their
    possession.
