You got it. A cruise missile is part of the nation's defense, a legitimate
government purpose as defined in the Constitution. Forcing me to pay for my
neighbor's visit to the emergency room because he has an ingrown toenail is
not.
[Case]
The constitution also gives the state and federal legislature the power to
decide which public purposes public funds should be applied to. Yet you
object. You can't be objecting to their right to do this since it is
specified in the constitution. So what is your complaint?

So you are smart enough to see through "coercive" advertising, but I and
everybody else isn't? We are all dupes of those clever, evil purveyors of
useless products? C'mon Case. We're all not that stupid, really.
[Case]
Actually, I am not that smart either. So, yes we really are that stupid and
that it why advertisers advertise. From my perspective private interests are
far more dangerous than public ones. At least in theory we as citizens can
hold elected officals accountable. We can not do that with private
companies. I share your paranoia. I just distrust private companies more
than I do the government. You seem to be the reverse.
