I would say we all have culturally provided ideas or
perhaps a sophisticated biological definition of what
makes something alive but one of my points is that
these concepts don't necessarily carry over into the
MoQ.

That is similar to one of my suggested solutions to
the 'problem'. I referred to weak patterns held
together by ambiguous preferences. I still quite like
that interpretation.
