Jonathan, Dan G, all

Strange about thoughts, just today I was mulling over a simpler metaphor
for the MoQ and one thought was a cascading fountain kit with stair
stepped pond like those sold in the big box home stores like Home Depot.
Then in this evening's e-mail Jonathan says:

> but the waterway lock system Pirsig describes in Lila provides a way of using gravity to
> defy gravity:

Now imagine a set of four locks stepping up river, all of them flooded,
and the water cascading from one lock pond to the other. Each lock pond
represent the Static levels, the swirls and eddies at each levels the
patterns of value, the flow Dynamic Quality, and the water cycle from
rain to river, Quality.

So how might this relate our topic. Dynamic is more moral because it is
the flow of life while the locks, Static Quality, tends to restrict or
slow the flow of life. But few, if any, can survive swimming full time
in the raging dynamic river of life, so we build a dam or four just to
rest and recuperate.
