focusers,
In my previous post on the self, the analysis centered on
the static part of the self. The dynamic part is far more
difficult to analyse, being more complex and basically
unexpressable in static terms. So we have no resort except
to use "fuzzy concepts" to describe the dynamic. One such
concept is that of Flux and METAFORCES. By metaforce i mean
here a force acting on the consiousness of a being as a
result of either a certain flux or a value pattern.
We know that static patterns in time undergo change or
transformation in the structure of static patterns in a
Being, and also that Dynamic Quality, according to MOQ,
must therefore be the agent or Metaforce of any such
change/ transformation. If we consider DQ as a singular
unitary metaforce, then we cannot distinguish a positive
(moral) change from a negative (immoral) change and any
further analysis becomes a futile effort.
For a meaningful metaphysics, therefore, DQ as a metaforce
will have to be considered a composite of several forces
acting upon the consciousness of a being. One such meta-
force is will -almost as important a metaforce as the moral
force which can said to be the primary component of DQ.
Again, will is an undefinable metaforce but there are a
few aspects of will that can be generalised without much
risk. None of these are provable of course.
1.The Will is a Personal Force that is unique for each
individual, indicative of direction, talent, predilection
and purpose, providing of course that this is realised and
developed. It may remain latent, if not developed in
the early stages, or may get totally suppressed by other
forces, in which case it dies out. Will is the property
of certain inbuilt structural (hardwired) as well as
unknown dynamic factors, or a combination of both.
The development and expression of the will is what makes
and distinguishes an individual being. It can be
generalised from this that the will is an indication
of the manifestation of the true individual.
2.It is a metaforce that is distinct from either the moral
force or the survival force although it can and does,
oppose or align with either. FREE WILL THEREFORE MEANS
THAT THE WILL IS NOT DEFINITELY OR FIXEDLY ALIGNED WITH
ANY OTHER METAFORCE.(The survival force i mentioned in
an earlier post, is the most powerful metaforce acting on
a Being, but being internally generated from biological
patterns is technically speaking a pseudo metaforce, like
the force of social agreement or the force of general
agreement.)
3. Will, when tuned with a purpose, and in harmony with
the the support faculties, becomes a potent force for
becoming or accomplishing a state of being or a goal.
4. It is a force that arises from within, but depending
upon its nature, can be directed inwards or outwards.
Directed outwards (socially), a strong will competes with
the will of others (dominate or influence), and the result
can be constructive (if the will is aligned with the moral
force) or destructive (if the will is in opposition to the
moral force.) A weak or absent will makes a Being
vulnerable to the will of others, and tends to cling to
the will of other strong willed individuals or just
latches simply to the prevalent social forces resultant
from social or cultural patterns.
5. The dynamism of a society depends upon how free is the
will of its individuals, that is, how well the existing
social patterns allow for the will of its individuals to
express itself and even allow for those individuals to
change or transform its value patterns. Radical changes
are brought about by strong willed individuals, but since
strong willed individuals are more likely to be
distructive, a lot depends upon how the existing value
patterns can channelise the force of distructive
individuals at an early stage.
