MF Points and Principles

Hey all.

Sorry I've been unavailable. I had to get married. (^_^)

I am willing to "put care and attention into building a better system". I was very excited to even *find* moq.org and rather disappointed to feel like I had jumped on the MF bandwagon just as everyone else was jumping off...

But as I said earlier, I can't commit to as verbose a list as MD. Someone said earlier that the MD was becoming a bit exclusive on a social and perhaps biological level; I agree. Some of us only have an hour a day or even an hour a week to dedicate to intellectual pursuits - not everyone can feed their families on forty hours a week. I'd hate to get excluded on such grounds...

On the other hand, it has also been pointed out that limiting posts can be a form of the static undermining the Dynamic... in other words, why limit individuals who *can* post five times a day? After all, isn't that a more Dynamic process? Isn't "survival of the fittest" (an evolutionary concept) significant (if not core) to the entire MOQ?

So think about this: the original plan was not a terrible one. It seems to have worked well for a while, anyways. You had the MF, a list of static discussion, and the MD, a list of Dynamic discussion. Sounds good.

But I think the lists have demonstrated quite efficiently one of the less-emphasized points of the MOQ - that though Dynamic be a "higher plane" so to speak, Dynamic without static is degeneracy, and static without Dynamic becomes stagnant. The MF became stagnant and died. The MD, in my opinion, has become so chaotic as to be considered intellectually degenerate. The MOQ wins again.

I don't believe that *one list* is the answer. But I do believe there needs to be some kind of connection between the two lists - the Dynamic to drive the static, and the static to be a foundation for the Dynamic.

How this can be accomplished, I think, is the question we need to be asking.

                   Later,
                    Kenny
