( Platt on MF? Hi! )

A brief note...

The very problem is that a monument (supposed to be art) should NOT be like
the photo... simply because we *already have* the photo. My art teacher at
school taught me that -I was eleven. My father -a photographer- then
confirmed.

If the city of New York wants a monument to celebrate the heroes, well,
simply take an artist and give her/him the duty to build a monument. If the
artist is a good artist, well she/he will be able to create a masterpiece..
whatever it will represent.

A monument should not represent the truth. The city of New York should not
decide what the monument will show. The Giant (social) should not prevail
over the artist viewpoint.

Of course, I could be wrong

Marco

p.s.
but weren't we here to discuss the future of this list?
