FOCUSING ON THE FIFTH LEVEL
Possible Candidate #1
"Global Awareness or Global Brain"- A transition which will lead to the
integration of the whole of humanity, producing a human "super being", or
merely enhance the capabilities of individuals, thus producing a multitude of
"meta-beings". This evolutionary transition to a higher level of complexity
has been discussed since ancient Greek times and is gaining steam via
computers, AI, networks, etc. etc. This link which I posted last month on MD
has a separate private discussion group with an e mail archive and articles
dedicated to this topic.

Possible Candidate #2
"Conscious Evolution" Again this has been around in one form or another since
prehistoric farmers selected one plant over another. But his via 'Genome type
Projects" would involve continous, active participation in genetic evolution.
Possible Candidate #3
"God" dials up every thing and explains why the chicken crossed the road.
I think if a next level emerges within the next millennium it will most
probably be #1 or a combination of #1 & #2 but sure wouldn't rule out #3.
