Hello fellow discussioners,
I changed my mind. It's true, we really need not
to know, wether we are able to SEE level 5 (L5)
or not, just to describe it. That assumption is
actually completely independent of the given
question. I really thought the whole day about
that, after sending my essay concerning the
'psychological uncertainty principle', of which I
still believe there exists an obstacle of that
kind, whatsoever it is called. If there is another
level, how could it be like? And I felt that
question was always very close to the giant in
chapter 17 of lila, which I couldn't get out of my
mind for so long. The resulting idea was the
'global brain'. Seeing billions of people
communicating via world wide information networks
( just like we do!). I would call every man inside
this network a neuron, the network the synapses of
that brain. A sign for that beginning evolution
(nothing is coming out of nothing) is for example
the independent world wide development of the new
electrifying computer OS LINUX. LINUX is purely a
community product and a good example of a new
quality of creation. This vision of a possible L5
seems to have the highest quality to me compared
with other ideas of mine in the past ( such as the
'Übermensch' not to speak of those poorly
eleborated drafts of the german philosopher
(philosophologist ?) Peter Sloterdijk).
By the way, Nieztsches idea of a 'Übermensch'
(superman ) was more like man freeing himself
from the ties of his instincts, instead of
letting instinct ruling rational thinking. To
avoid misunderstandings: it is true, that Hitler
based his doctrine partly on Nieztsches works
(although Nieztsche has never been antisemitic, he
had lots of jewish friends!), but what I had in my
mind, the way Nieztsche meant it, an evolution of
the spirit. But as mentioned above, I consider
those ideas as low-quality ones. I really see no
way to free the 'high flying' of the spirit from
it's ties to the instincts.
Curiosly, when I got my e-mails, D. L. Thomas
proposed his candidate No.1, the 'global brain',
already. This was a rather funny feeling indeed!
D.L.Thomas: Maybe you had a similar or perhaps
totally different imagination of the 'global
brain'? Could you give me a discription of your
'global brain' / 'global awareness'?
So long JoVo
