Hi Maggie,

Once more into the breach. This time I'll send just my comments rather than
try to include your principles. I screwed that up somehow.

The principles you suggest mostly concern interactions between and within
levels which expand on Dominance Principles 7 & 8 and the Dependency
Principle. There's already been quite a bit of discussion about these
interactions, without much agreement I'm afraid. I recall a spirited
exchange I had with Magnus about whether social meant cultural or, as he
argued, it included almost any group of interconnected patterns, like
bodily organs. You may also recall that early on I questioned your use of
term "mediate'" since it seemed to mean "cause," at least in some contexts.
You also use it at times to mean '"influence, affect." Since for me the
term is somewhat slippery, I often get confused when it's used although I
notice others don't seem to have the same problem.

Regardless of terminology, level interactions is a subject we should
struggle mightily to untangle. For example, will it be necessary to
resurrect subjects and objects in talking about these interactions? There's
an inside pattern to every entity, a static pattern of life history for
example. But there's also an outside pattern that's seen and dealt with by
others. (To me I'm the whole of experience. To those who know me I'm just
one experience among many. How do these different viewpoints interact in
the MoQ?) It's a huge but vitally important subject that we should continue
to probe because I sense that some down-to-earth practical applications of
the MoQ will magically evolve as a result. I encourage you to keep at it,
and I'll do my best to keep up with your luminous insights.

Platt
