Bodvar and the LilaSquad,
I greatly enjoyed your recent response to Keith's pointed inquiry.
(IMHO) It's fundamental questions and responses like this that
really move our discussion forward. One tangential comment from my
side, though...

have a candidate."

I definitely don't claim anything approaching a comprehensive
understanding of all the subtleties and nuances of Western thought,
but I have stumbled upon several interesting non-S/O philosophical
systems over the past year or so. Two in particular stand out as
candidates for your inquiry: the "phenomenology" of Edmund Husserl
and the "existential-phenomenology" of Maurice Merleau-Ponty. Both
of these men exhibit a complex (and sometimes obfuscated) writing
style that is challenging to say the least. However, after wading
through a few of their most noted works, I'm convinced that they were
both on to something akin to Pirsig's MoQ. If anyone is interested,
I would be happy to share my limited understanding of these two
thinkers. More likely, however, someone else on the list (i.e.,
Donald, Anthony, etc.) with formal training in metaphysics would be
in a better position to affirm or deny my intuitions.

Responses?
Jason
