I'm not taking any position on multiple universes. Within this
universe, SQ fills some subset of available niches. Since a niche can't
be detected until it's filled, there's no way of knowing which niches
exist. So I suppose this argues for indeterminism, at least from the
point of view of the patterns themselves.
